When Matthew Snyder and Wyatt Barnes first met in the Spring of 2014, they had an instantaneous connection.  What began as a casual first date walking around NC State’s campus, turned into a full-day affair of dinner, dessert and deep conversation.  “After we left each other that night I remember feeling this overwhelming warmth and happiness – something I wasn’t quite prepared for!” recounts Wyatt.

After two years of dating, the couple exchanged proposals, each planning their own special occasion for the other.  Matthew was the first to get down on one knee with a proposal to Wyatt during a tour of The Biltmore Estate.  Months later, Wyatt surprised Matthew with a proposal during his own birthday dinner.  “I got down on my knee and asked if he was still sure he wanted to marry me.  His cheeks blushed bright red and he said yes!”

Matthew and Wyatt married more than a year later on January 12, 2018. Both the ceremony and reception took place at 1705 East in Raleigh, North Carolina. Their dream wedding consisted of contemporary classy elements with a black, white and silver color scheme. The couple spent their wedding day celebrating the occasion with 100 of their closest friends and family.

What did you wish you knew prior to planning your wedding?

That setting strict budget goals is very difficult and willing to make compromises on the budget based on what you want to get out of that special day.

What surprised you about planning your wedding?

How smooth it actually went with the right vendors that you choose. If you have the right ones they will make sure that your day is all about you, and having that support is the most helpful thing ever. We loved everything single vendor we choose because they were all local and not from huge companies. It really helped to personalize the experience.

What advice would you give to other local couples currently planning their wedding?

Always keep looking for the right places and things you want. When you find them you will know right away. Just remember it is about the two of you so choose what you want!
