At Forever Bridal, we strive to be the North Carolina Bride’s go-to wedding experts. We pride ourselves on well-produced wedding shows to introduce Raleigh area wedding vendors to brides and the resources needed to guide them in the wedding planning process. When we hired our Client Relations and Social Media PR Consultant, Camellia, last year, we had no idea what we were in for! It was a match made in heaven: Camellia was planning her wedding to her now husband, Charlie. Together, we teamed up to orchestrate a beautiful Raleigh garden wedding. Take a look at the gorgeous day we helped make happen for this Carolina bride!
At the time, Camellia was coincidentally planning her own Carolina wedding to fiance, Charlie Spivey. The couple and modeling duo were already well-known in the local wedding industry. They participated in several styled photo shoots with Forever Bridal vendors and for the past four years walked in the fashion shows at our wedding shows. Before this project even began, Camellia and Charlie were essentially already our Forever Bridal couple. The two had begun their wedding planning process but were feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the tasks and decisions they still needed to make. Forever Bridal was more than happy to give these two the perfect day by connecting them with local wedding pros.
For the last five months leading up to their nuptials, we followed our Forever Bridal couple during their journey to the altar. Camellia and Charlie shared their wedding preparations, from marriage mentoring to cake tasting, by live streaming on Forever Bridal’s Facebook page. Not only did viewers get to know the couple, they were able to understand the wedding planning process, by joining them on consultations. Viewers were also able to meet the Raleigh area wedding vendors who took part in their special day. Now, we are excited to share details of the couple’s wedding day, which was nothing short of spectacular.
A Gatsby Garden Party Wedding
On Saturday, October 14, 2017, Camellia and Charlie’s wedding came together in a gorgeous Gatsby Garden Party soiree that took place at The Hall and Gardens at Landmark. The couple said, “I Do,” in an elegant ceremony within the grounds’ gardens. Violinist, Udeshi Harget, set the tone for the joyous occasion by playing as guests arrived. Then, the couple of four years was married by close friend, Byron Jennings, in an elegant ceremony that brought their loved ones to tears.
To assist with wedding preparations and on-site support, the couple enlisted help from Creative Touch Events. The event planning and design company brought the couple’s dream wedding to life with 1920’s-inspired accents and glamour. Their innovative design transformed the venue into the Gatsby Garden Party wedding that Camellia and Charlie envisioned.
After a cocktail hour in the grand ballroom, guests returned to the gardens to enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars. Tall candelabras draped in pearls, golden lanterns and lush floral arrangements set atop the tables. The meal, catered by Cake Couture Boutique, included a duet plate of honey bourbon salmon and herb-roasted chicken, with green beans and mashed potatoes.
The couple sat at a sweetheart table decorated with tealights and garden roses. Gold dusted ferns and a trio of wedding cakes, created by Confectionate Cakes, served as the backdrop. Each cake sat atop an acrylic box enclosing individual crystal chandeliers. For dessert, guests had their choice of butter cake with fresh strawberry filling or chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling.
Camellia and Charlie’s glamorous theme also inspired their wedding wear. Camellia said, “yes to the dress,” at Savvi Formalwear Formalwear and Bridal . Her dress had a stunning trumpet silhouette. The fully beaded gown was styled with a detachable skirt and cathedral-length veil for the ceremony. She carried a bouquet of gold dusted red roses, arranged with tropical protea, scabiosa, ranunculus and astilbe. A personal touch was the flower from her grandmother’s wedding veil, which was pinned to the bouquet.
For the bridal party’s hair and makeup, Camellia entrusted vendors that she’s worked with in her modeling career. The girls spent the morning getting wedding-ready with the help of Wink Hair and Makeup and Wedding Hair by Liz. The bride also arranged a special treat for her bridesmaids; an on-site chef from CrepeTime Catering to cook the girls a delicious brunch. The crepes, the bride said, were one of the highlights of her wedding day.
The groom, known for his style, wore a custom suit designed by Stitchings.co. In working with the designer, Charlie was able to by hand-pick details such as the fabric, buttons and lapel. His suit also included a custom stitching of C & C with their wedding date on the inside. Another special component of his outfit was the watch gifted by his bride-to-be moments before the ceremony.
The Happily Ever After
Following the dinner, guests joined the newlyweds for a fun-filled reception in The Landmark’s Marie Antoinette ballroom. A photo booth with props was provided by CWDJ and proved to be the perfect souvenir for the attendees. The music played by DJ K Stones had almost every guest dancing the night away. “I was surprised by how many people joined us on the dance floor right away,” notes the bride. “We are still hearing from guests about how much they enjoyed our wedding.” Luckily, Camellia and Charlie are able to look back on their special day with video filmed by Dogwood Media and pictures by Nieto Photography, who captured their occasion.
Since the Spivey wedding came together so beautifully, we asked them to give advice on the wedding planning process. “One of the first things we did was think of which details stood out to us from other weddings we’ve attended. This helped us focus on specific items and structure our budget. For example, place cards were not as important to us, so we opted for a less expensive option. This allowed us to spend more on decor, which was really important to us. Decor was the main focus in all our decisions.”
And when it came to selecting their wedding vendors, important factors included pricing and chemistry. “Especially with your photographer, videographer and planners, since you’re with these people a lot throughout your wedding day. They should be people you enjoy being around,” said Camellia. “We probably met with three companies from each category before making our final decision. There are so many talented vendors in the Raleigh area, which makes it easy to find the right people to make your dream wedding come true.”
After playing bride and groom in six previous photo shoots, their seventh and true time was certainly the charm. We could not be more happy for our Forever Bridal couple and are so thankful that they shared their very special day with us. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Spivey!
