How to plan a Wedding when you don’t want to have a Wedding

Let’s be honest, a big or elaborate wedding isn’t for everyone, and some people may prefer getting married at the courthouse. However, the pressures from family and friends for a big wedding and celebration may force you to give in.

Check out some advice that might make your planning and wedding celebration less painful. In the end, as long as you and your spouse end up together, happy and loving each other, then that’s all that really matters.

  • Hire a wedding planner: A great way to make planning a wedding you’re not excited about easier, is to hire someone to do the nitty-gritty work for you. They will alleviate the pressures and stress so all you need to do is make a few decisions, show up and say “I do.” Your wedding planner will handle the rest.
  • Minimize your bridal party size: No one said you have to have a dozen bridesmaids and groomsmen, so keep it small and limit it to about 3 bridesmaids and groomsmen max. The less people, the less drama.
  • Keep your guest list small: As with the bridal party, fewer people equal less drama. And the less money that needs to be spent. Try and keep your guest list to fewer than 50. This will make it a more intimate affair for those select family and friends.
  • Get married in the off-season: Venues tend to not only be less expensive on Sundays and weekdays, but also during the off months.
  • Go non-traditional: Short dresses are fashionable nowadays, as are colored dresses. Don’t feel obligated to wear a white floor length gown. It’s your day, do it however you want!
